Bananas Are Safe for Maltipoos
Bananas are safe for maltipoos or other dogs. This fruit has high potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C and also biotin and copper. Even some veterinarians recommend bananas to be given to dogs as a healthy alternative fatty, salty treat. Bananas also contain high fiber so that it can help if the dog is having gastrointestinal problems. Bananas also have magnesium which can promote bone growth and helps the body produce protein and absorb vitamins.
Even though bananas are safe, but banana peels may not be. Dog owners need to avoid banana peels to be given to their dogs. It does not mean that the peels are toxic, but they are difficult to digest and it can cause a blockage.

First, the banana can be mashed up with his food and then mix it into a little dog-safe peanut bunnet. Then, it is stuffed into a Kong and freeze it. The whole banana must be frozen and then peel it and slice it.
How Much Banana Is Safe for Dogs?
As explained earlier, don’t feed dogs with bananas often. Just make it an occasional treat. It is because if you feed bananas too much, it can cause some problems. Bananas have high sugar content so make sure that it is not given for regular meals. For large dogs, they can be given ½ of a banana a day and for small dogs, they can be given two-three small pieces per day. If the dogs are still puppies, giving bananas to them must be consulted first to the vet since puppies have specific diets that support their growth and development.
Let’s say that a dog eats too much banana. If so, it will be shown by stomach upsets. A dog may eat too many bananas without being noticed by the owner. If so, the owner can see its poop. If the dog is strained while pooping, it can indicate that the dog has constipation. The worst thing is that if the dog eats peels, a blockage can happen and gastrointestinal problems can be a more serious issue to happen.
If the dog has underlying issues with their kidneys or diabetes and they eat bananas too much, it can dump an overload of potassium in its blood so that the dog may show weakness, disorientation or even collapse.
Can Dogs Consume Banana Bread or Banana Pudding? How about Banana Chips?
Even though bananas are okay for dogs, but banana bread may be not. It is because banana bread contains additional sugars and other unhealthy ingredients for dogs. The bread may contain chocolate chips which are toxic to dogs. Not only banana bread, banana pudding must also be avoided to be given to dogs. Same as banana bread, banana pudding contains added sugars and ingredients which can be dangerous or toxic for the dogs.
How about banana chips? As explained on the Prrrs & Wags site, banana chips are a lightweight, quick energy boost when the dog needs a quick snack. Banana chips are safe for dogs. However, it is important to note that usually most chips which are available commercially have a high sugar content and preservatives added. Avoiding these ingredients is better.
